Agiorgitiko – Black grape. Origin: Greece. Second most widely planted black grape in Greece. Produces fruity spicy wines, commonly from the carbonic maceration. Well known as a component of the table wine Katoi when blended with Cabernet Sauvignon. Synonyms: Aghiorghitico, Aghiorghitiko, Nemeas Mavro, Nemeas Mavroudi, and St. George.
Aglianico – Black grape. Origin: Italy. Most well known as the main component in Taurasi DOCG in Campania and Aglianico del Vulture in Basilicata. Firm, rustic, tannic and smoke driven grape with aromas and flavors of spicy black fruits. Airén – White grape. Origin: Spain. Most planted grape in Spain. Non-aromatic, neutral variety used mainly for blending and the production of brandy. Synonyms: Aiden, Forcallada, Forcallat, Forcallat blanca, Forcallat blanco, Forcayat, Forcellat bianca, Forcellat blanca, Laeren del Ray, Lairén, Layren, Manchega, Mantuo Laeren, Valdepeñas, Valdepeñera blanca, and Valdepeñero. Albariño – White grape. Origin: Spain. Found in mainly in Spain (Rias Baixas & Galicia) and Portugal (Vinho Verde). High in acidity with crisp flavors of minerals and citrus. Synonyms: Alvarinho, Albarina, Alvarin Blanco, Alvarinha, Azal Blanco, Galego, and Galeguinho. Four clones: Albariño FPS 01-02, Alvarinho PLANSEL 639 and Alvarinho NWGFS 01.
Abillo Mayor – White grape. Origin: Spain. Found in Spain in the DO’s of Toro and Rueda in the region of Castilla y Leon. Aromatic and dry with flavors of tropical fruits. Research suggests that this is the same as the Argentina Torrontes, but this is not 100% as of yet. Synonyms: Torrontes, Albillo Erguido, Aris, Blanca del País, Monastrell blanco, Morrastell blanco, Tarrantés, Terrantés, Torontél, Torrantés, Turrondés, Turrontés, Turruntés, and Turruntés de la Rioja. Alicante Bouschet – Black variety. Origin: France. One of the few black grapes with black juice. Cross between Grenache and Petit Bouschet. Tannic driven red with flavors of red currant, leather and spice. Aligote – White grape. Origin: France. At home in Cote Chalonnaise, in the appellation of Bouzeron, in southern Burgundy where it produces wines with nutty citrus and stone fruit flavors. Arinarnoa – Black grape. Origin: France. Cross between Merlot and Petit Verdot. One clone: Arinarnoa FPS 01.
Arneis – White Grape. Origin: Italy. Commonly found in the Piedmont region of Italy in the DOCs of Langhe and Roero. Produces refreshing nutty and herbaceous wines. Synonyms: Barolo bianco, Bianchetta di Alba, Bianchetto Albese, and White Barolo. Three Clones: Arneis APS 01-03.
Auxerrois – White grape. Origin: France. Commonly found in Alsace, France where it’s blended with Pinot Gris to produce dry crisp wines. A clone of Pinot Noir. Synonyms: Auxera, Auxerrois de Laquenexy, Auxerrois gris, Auzerrois blanc, Blanc de Kienzheim, Ericey de la Montee, Okseroa, and Pinot Auxerrois. Two clones: Auxerrois FPS 01-02.

Barbera – Black grape. Origin: Italy. Commonly found in the Piedmont region of Italy. Produces low acid fruity reds with flavors of black cherry, raspberries, and plum. Carignane – Black grape. Origin: Spain. Most widely planted grape in southern France. One of the 14 grape varieties allowed in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Rich in tannins, acid and deep color. Charbono – Black grape. Origin: France. There are two varieties of Charbono: 1) California – which matches DNA from an extinct French grape from the Savoie region named Corbeau and 2) Italy – Charbono is a synonym for Dolcetto. Falanghina – White Grape. Origin: Italy. Grown predominantly in the Campania region of Italy. Noted for aromas and flavors of green apples and citrus fruits. Furmint - White Grape. Origin: Hungary. Main component in the famous Hungarian dessert wine Tokaji Aszu. Garnacha Gris – White/Grey grape. Origin: Spain. This is the grey grape version of Grenache/Garnacha. One of the 14 grape varieties allowed in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Gewürztraminer – White grape. Origin: Italy. An intensely aromatic varietal that produces a wide range of wines from bone dry to super sweet dessert wines. The best Gewürztraminer are produced in Alsace, France and Alto-Adige, Italy. More recent plantings in New Zealand are showing promise. Lambrusco – Black grape. Origin: Italy. Produces light fruity and fizzy reds in a dry and sweet form. Best quality is from the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy.
