Dylan York

Vino Diary was created by Dylan York, a certified sommelier who is currently pursuing both the Masters in Wine and Master Sommelier certificates.  Vino Diary is here to provide its readers with interesting wine blogs, articles, tasting notes, food & wine pairings, study guides, restaurant and wine bar recommendations as well as where to find the best wine merchants and services. Vino Diary hopes to catch the attention of newly interested wine lovers, students of both MS and MW programs, and all other wine enthusiasts looking for useful information and guidance through the ever changing world of wine.   Readers are encouraged to leave comments on how Vino Diary can better serve your wine needs.  Thank you for visiting and please enjoy the site.

Study Guides

The best way I’ve found to learn all of the material for my curriculum of study is to create detailed notes and diagrams.  Because of the amount of data that students of both MS and MW programs are required to learn, it becomes necessary to research multiple publications and sources to obtain all of the information.  I have spent numerous hours compiling this data and have chosen to share all of my study guide materials for others to view and utilize, so as I learn it, I post it.  I hope that other students of both MS and MW programs find this information useful and helpful.  It takes a great deal of discipline, time and money to achieve these designations, good luck! Tasting Notes

All of the tasting notes on this site contain three parts:  technical information, perspective and the systematic approach.  The technical information is straight forward.  The perspective part of the tasting note is where I discuss my overall impression of the wine.  The systematic approach analyzes the wine for all its components and defines the wine for what it is.  My philosophy on tasting is quite simple and based on the same principles that I have developed over the years as a wine buyer.  I taste wines for what they are: complex, fruit bombs, old world, new world, elegant, cough syrup, I’m drunk after one glass, whatever.  There is a wine for every occasion and my goal is to taste wines from all over the world and tell you, the reader, about them.  The most important aspect of wine is to have fun, always drink what you like and at the same time continue to try new things.  I hope readers will find my notes useful and discover something new and exciting.
